The Role
As VP Engineering, you are responsible for leading our technical vision and execution. You work at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and delivery – empowering engineering teams to ship robust, scalable AI systems that deliver real-world value.
You lead the full product lifecycle – from early concept to system architecture, from coding standards to CI/CD pipelines, and from technical hiring to shipping customer-ready software. You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and ML engineers, and work directly with enterprise clients.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, high-ownership environments and is excited to build both technology and an exceptional engineering culture. Define and drive NewNow’s engineering strategy, tech roadmap, and system architecture across client projects.
The role includes the following tasks:
- Lead technical delivery of full-stack AI systems, including backend, frontend, APIs, and ML integrations
- Set and enforce coding standards, review processes, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices (incl.Azure)
- Guide the integration of AI/ML models into robust production-grade applications
- Make key architectural decisions – from modernizing legacy environments to designing distributed and multi-agent systems
- Represent engineering in client engagements, collaborating closely to translate complex needs into scalable systems
- Work closely with the leadership team on product direction, company strategy, and scaling operations
- Travel occasionally for team retreats or key client workshops (primarily Frankfurt/Berlin or CET ±2h)
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering leadership, preferably in startups, product companies,or advanced tech consultancies
- Deep full-stack expertise, from backend (e.g., Python) to frontend (TypeScript, React, etc.)
- Proven track record in system architecture, technical design, and scaling complex systems
- Strong command of CI/CD, code quality, testing, and DevOps best practices
- Experience with Azure and/or other cloud platforms, including hybrid or on-premise deployments
- Understanding of ML/AI productization and system integration
- Experience building and leading high-performing, autonomous engineering teams
- Ability to operate with both strategic vision and hands-on delivery
- Fluent in English; German is a strong plus
